Flying out of JFK has become easier for pets because of ARK Pet Oasis, a terminal built especially for our four-legged friends. Your cat can get necessary vaccines (by appointment) before boarding; delivery to the gate shortly before takeoff so there’s no more waiting in too-hot or too-cold cargo facilities; on-site veterinary care, if necessary; and various creature comforts. For cats, for instance, ARK’s trees are reserved for climbing.
It may seem like overkill, but some 70,000 animals — cats, dogs, horses, sheep, pigs, and even penguins — pass through New York City’s busy JFK Airport every single year. The various services come at a cost, but if your cat does have to fly, we think it’s humane treatment at its best.
